This course gives you a comprehensive introduction to basic emergency care when responding to adults, children or infants, such as CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED) and basic first aid knowledge. Topics include: • Sudden cardiac arrest • CPR with rescue breathing • Compression-only CPR • Cardiac arrest: opioid overdose • AED operation • Infectious bloodborne diseases • Choking • Control of bleeding • Shock • Stroke • Poisoning • Altered mental status • Concussion • Nosebleed • Injured tooth • Burns • Heat and cold emergencies • Seizures • Bites and stings This course conforms to the AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid. By successfully completing this online class, students will receive a Certificate of Online Training. If a certification card is needed, student must successfully complete a hands-on skill session with a currently authorized HSI Instructor.
